Cornel West, Ph.D., is a professor of Religion at Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey. Dr. West has held positions at Union Thelogical Seminary in New York, Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts and the University of Paris. Dr. West has published 17 books and edited 13 texts. In his major bestseller, Race Matters, 1993, Dr. West renders a searing analysis of the scars of racism in American democracy. He voices about the thorniest social and political issues of our day and bridges the gap between black and white opinion. In Democracy Matters, 2004 Dr. West argues that if America is to become a better steward of democratization around the world, we must first wake up to the long history of imperialist corruption that has plagued our own democracy. Dr. West was an influential force in developing the storyline for the Matrix trilogy. Not only is he the spokesperson for this box-office hit series, Dr. West also had recurring roles in the final two volumes. Dr. West earned a bachelors degree in Near Eastern Languages and Literature from Harvard College in Cambridge, Massachusetts, magna cum laude, a masters degree and doctorate in philosophy from Princeton University.
